This color challenge is black and orange. I didn't want to do the typical Halloween Card. After a but if thought I decided to use this beautiful butterfly set from Punk Fresh Studio. I have a kindred with butterflies, my niece loved them. Since this is breast cancer awareness month and she passed from breast cancer, it seemed fitting to make a card in her honor.
As stated above the set was from Pink Fresh Studios. I pretty pressed the butterflies with my betterpress and Nocturne VeraFine Ink in5o Spellbinders Betterpress Paper in the color Porcelain. I was not planning on cutting my butterflies but I made a mess on my paper so it made sense.
I stenciled the butterflies using the matching stencils and Altenew Golden Sunset Ink Family. Next I die cut the butterflies and sentiment.
I went looking for a frame to use and instead found a frame in my black cardstock that I had cut from another project that I thought would work well. I found some patterned paper that would work. It was an older pack but I think it was from Altenew.
I arranged everything in the composition I wanted then I decided to add texture to the patterned paper with an embossing folder. I chose the embossing folder from this month's Craft Your Life Kit called Expressive Flora. I added some ink to the embossing to bring out the texture a bit. The ink I used was Charcoal Suit from Altenew.
I adhered the pieces down using some low loft foam tape. Then I decided to use the leftover piece if patterned paper on the inside if the card pictured below. I also stamped the sentiment on the inside. It came from that same Pink Fresh Studios collection called Butterfly Bliss.
This is a gorgeous card!
ReplyDeleteI love the story behind this card, Stacey! Both my parents had breast cancer. Your card is as pretty as can be and I love the direction you took with our colors. That patterned paper really elevated the design. I am sure your niece would have loved it too. Thanks for taking the time to join us at Color Hues. Hugs!
