Birthday Challenge #337 Geometric Design with Word Dies

I created 2 of the same card with different color ways.  The one I was most attracted to was this one.  What do you think?

This was a pretty simple card, mostly just die cutting and assembling the pieces so I will just go into the supplies used.  The 2 color sets I used were selected from the Color Cubes (1st Edition)
  • Dies
  • Cardstock
    • Vellum
    • Beeswax-Spellbinders
    • Saffron-Spellbinders
    • Sicily-Spellbinders
    • Magenta Madness-Stampin' Up
    • Shimmer Black-Amazon
2nd Card with same design was done with a more masculine feel.
  • Cardstocks Used
    • Evening Evergreen-Stampin' Up
    • Cobblestone-Concord & 9th
    • Charcoal Brown-Gina K Designs
    • Truffle-Spellbinders
    • Dark Chocolate-Gina K Designs
The cardstocks came from my stash so I am not sure they are still available (with the exception of the Spellbinders Cardstocks.  These were all from the Colorwheel Line.  Stampin' Up updates their colors pretty regularly so it is likely these specific colors are not available.  The point of the Color Cubes is not to necessarily be exact but to take inspiration from the images on the cards and the palettes themselves.

Color Challange #143

This color challenge is black and orange.  I didn't want to do the typical Halloween Card.  After a but if thought I decided to use this beautiful butterfly set from Punk Fresh Studio.  I have a kindred with butterflies, my niece loved them.   Since this is breast cancer awareness month and she passed from breast cancer, it seemed fitting to make a card in her honor.

As stated above the set was from Pink Fresh Studios.  I pretty pressed the butterflies with my betterpress and Nocturne VeraFine Ink in5o Spellbinders Betterpress Paper in the color Porcelain.  I was not planning on cutting my butterflies but I made a mess on my paper so it made sense.

I stenciled the butterflies using the matching stencils and Altenew Golden Sunset Ink Family.   Next I die cut the butterflies and sentiment.

I went looking for a frame to use and instead found a frame in my black cardstock that I had cut from another project that I thought would work well. I found some patterned paper that would work.   It was an older pack but I think it was from Altenew.

I arranged everything in the composition I wanted then I decided to add texture to the patterned paper with an embossing folder. I chose the embossing folder from this month's Craft Your Life Kit called Expressive Flora.   I added some ink to the embossing to bring out the texture a bit.  The ink I used was Charcoal Suit from Altenew.

I adhered the pieces down using some low loft foam tape.  Then I decided to use the leftover piece if patterned paper on the inside if the card pictured below.  I also stamped the sentiment on the inside.  It came from that same Pink Fresh Studios collection called Butterfly Bliss.

Halloween Makes thus far

I don't think I am done with Halloween yet, I have been having way too much fun with it.  Especially after I was able to get my hands on the Hero Arts My Monthly Super Hero Kit.  I wanted that kit in the worst way and it sold out likity split.  But they got some back in stock and I was on a wait list, So I got mine.  I have been trying to play with it each day every since.  Here are a few things I made.

Yet another Birthday Card

I was asked to make a card that was themed around playing poker or gambling.  Seemed a perfect fit for the Jack of All Trades and the Wild Joker sets from Jaycee Gaspar and Spellbinders.  I used the colors from the packaging.

Commissioned Birthday Cards

I was asked to make a Birthday Card for my Sister-in-Law.  Of course, in the commission I also wanted to make one for her from me.  I had this idea to create a light up card from a lightning bug set I received at the Summer Camp with Concord and 9th.  So I put the bugs in the jar and made them light up using lights from Pear Blossom Press.  I think it turned out so cute.
Then I created a card from a set of Music Instruments from Spellbinders.  This same sister is very much into music so it seemed fitting.  I pretty much used a design I saw for this one.

Color Hues Challenge #142 Burnt Red and Amber

Today I am participating in the Color Hues Challenge.  The Colors were Amber and Burnt Red.

I cut the Summer Afternoon Gradient Cardstock.  Summer Afternoon Gradient Cardstock  using the Fall Pickings Die Set.  I used this set for a swap card I created as well and really liked how it came out.  I was pleased with this one as well.  Fall Pickings Die Set .  This is a subscription set.  It can also be purchased as a one off if you wait until it is out in their regular release.  Honestly, I did not think I would get much use of this set but have used it quite a bit and really love it.  It is also very easy to put together.

Then I ink blended the edges of the leaves with darker deep reds to get some addition color variation.  I used a "Hello" that I had already cut out with a matching color and the shadow in a shimmer brown, which also went with my card base.  The card base was Taylored Expressions Kraft.    That is really all there was to this aside from putting together the pieces and deciding on how I would lay it out.  The squiggles at the bottom are from Champagne Foil Cardstock from Concord & 9th.

Seize the Birthday #336 Challenge Double Frame

I am using Affiliate links in my post today.  This means I will receive a small commission for any purchases made following my links.  I thank you for using my links, and your support.

For the Seize the Birthday Challenge this time I am using my favorite Mix and Match Frames from Altenew. https://altenew.com/products/mix-and-match-frames-die-set?sca_ref=11601837.UA4HmLkyLyQ121fs

I love this set and have used it many times.  I used only the 2 outside frames. All of the cardstocks I used were from Altenew.   Starting with the frames cut from the Tranquility Set of cardstocks.  https://altenew.com/products/crafty-necessities-cardstock-bundle-tranquility?sca_ref=11601837.UA4HmLkyLyQ121fs
I used Dark Night for the outer dotted frame.  The inside deckle edge was from Cloudy Sky.

The Foliage in the composition is from the Tranquil Meadow set.  Butterflies have a special meaning to me so I was particularly drawn to this set.

The sentiment from Spellbinders, was cut from Cloudy Sky cardstock and the shadow layer from Champagne foil from Concord and 9th.

I am a bit behind in my posts.

I have been doing quite a bit of card making but I have been slow in posting.  I will have several back to back posts to make up.

First, I made a card for the birthday challenge at the beginning of the month but I did not get a chance to get it posted.   The Birthday Challenge, Seize the Birthday

#335-Use Fall Colors

Card Front

Card inside

This will be down and dirty.  The color inspiration came from Facebook, Julie Banks Peery.  Plumberry, Pimento, Clementine, Wheat Fig and Briar Rose.  Also, added Ballet Slipper, Honeycomb, Buttercup, Cocoa, Basil and  Eucalyptus.  These were the ink colors used for ink blending through the the stencil from the Thank you Bouquet.  Then Die cut it with the coordinating die set.  Once Die Cut then it was run through the matching embossing folder.  The stamp set was from the Just Add Cake kit.  I used the embossing folder from the Just Add Cake kit on a piece of Pimento Cardstock, cut to 5 1/2"x4 1/4",  Cut diagonally.  I added splatter to the front with Iulie Shimmer Watercolor and Mica Spray in Crooked Broomstick.  The card base was Gina K Kraft cardstock.  I cut a small sliver of Copper Craftstock by Ideaology to trim the diagonal piece.  I cut the Celebrate Big Banner from Honeycomb cardstock from the Just Add Cake Kit.  Also stamped Birthday wishes with Pimento Ink.

Inside I stenciled the same floral with a light hand and Wheat Ink from Concord and 9th.  I stamped the sentiment with Pimento Ink also Concord and 9th.
